Middle layer of the eye

The middle layer of the eye (tunica media bulbi) is a layer located between the out and the inner layer of the eye. Its primary function is feeding the whole eye, while its secondary function is eye accommodation.

This layer is comprised of three main parts: choroid, iris and ciliary body.

The outer layer of the eye (tunica externa bulbi) has three main functions:

1. It is supposed to give resistance to the intraocular pressure
2. It is supposed to protect the eye
3. It is supposed to be a place where the muscles will attach themselves.

The outer layer of the eye has a form of a ball, and is consisted of two parts: sclera and cornea.
